Heated Argument in MRT Women’s Coach: A Father’s Dilemma or Rule Breaker?

A man refused to leave the women’s coach on the MRT because his children were with him.

Last year, MRT introduced a women-only coach to provide a safer travel environment for women. Despite this, many men have been caught invading this space.

The Latest Incident

A TikTok video by Chai Huat Ho shows a man arguing with a woman who asked him to move out of the women’s coach. The original video has been removed, but it has been reshared on other platforms.

In the video, the man and the woman’s argument gets more heated. When the woman told him that men aren’t allowed in the coach, he replied, “Ask the police to catch me…. I dare you to call.”

The man claimed he was there because he didn’t want to leave his small children alone. “Ridiculous you know, my kids are so small, and you ask me to leave my kid alone,” he said. The woman suggested he take his family and leave the coach.

Comments suggest that his children were actually with his wife, not alone. Ironically, the man only needed to step back behind the pink barrier marking the women’s coach.

An MRT staff member eventually intervened, calming the man. When asked if he was okay, the man said he wasn’t and called the rule unfair.

Public Reactions

Netizens mostly supported the woman, saying the man should have left his wife and kids in the women’s coach and moved to the regular coach himself. They argued that the women’s coach exists for a reason, and he should respect that. Some also felt other women in the coach should have supported the woman during the argument.
