Chika, whose real name is Chandrika Chika, was arrested with five of her friends while hanging out in a hotel room in Setiabudi, Jakarta.
Chandrika Chika, along with her five friends, got nabbed by the authorities for drug misuse. They were taken into custody at a hotel in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Monday, April 22, 2024, around 11:00 PM.
“We’ve questioned Miss CK, and she admitted to knowing about drugs for over a year,” said AKP Rezka Anugras, the Deputy Chief of Narcotics Detective Unit of South Jakarta Metro Police, when asked in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to him, Chika Chandrika alias CK and the five other social media influencers claimed they didn’t have any specific intention to use drugs. They admitted to just following the crowd and thought it was normal.
These drug misuse suspects were accustomed to the same social circles that also used drugs.
During the raid in the room, authorities found an electronic cigarette pod containing cannabis liquid or THC. As a result, all the suspects were directed to undergo urine tests, and the 21-year-old girl and her friends tested positive for drugs.
“Four tested positive for cannabis, two for methamphetamine.”
During interrogation, all the suspects confessed that they didn’t know that using drugs was a crime because they thought it was normal, and they admitted to using illegal substances before.
“We asked the suspects if they had any specific intention to use drugs like ‘doping’ or something. But because of the nature of their social circles, they thought it was normal,” he said.
He added that at the time of arrest, they were consuming drugs using an electronic cigarette containing cannabis liquid, taking turns using it.
“Based on the investigation and interrogation of the suspects, they are indeed a group of friends. So, they deliberately went to the hotel to hang out,” he said.
South Jakarta Metro Police have identified six suspects of cannabis drug misuse, among whom are social media influencers and e-sports athletes.
“There are six individuals that we have identified as suspects of drug misuse,” he said.
As a result of their offense, under Article 127 of Law Number 35 of 2009 Regarding Narcotics, Chandrika Chika and her five friends could face up to 4 years in prison.
