Initially believed to have suffered second-degree burns, further assessment revealed the severity of fourth-degree burns, shared Selangor Football Association (FAS) deputy president Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar. The footballer is enduring excruciating pain, particularly in his left hand, which has limited mobility, posing concerns for his future in sports.

Shahril expressed the grim reality of Faisal’s condition, noting the impact on his movement and speech due to facial injuries. Faisal’s left arm is numb, affecting his ability to communicate clearly. Doctors anticipate his hospitalization for three to four weeks, with a minimum recovery period of five to six months.

The assault occurred when two assailants on a motorcycle targeted Faisal at a Kota Damansara shopping mall parking lot on May 5, throwing the corrosive liquid and shouting, “Good luck!” Police swiftly arrested two suspects, one in Pandan Indah and the other in Bandar Baru Bangi, following the incident.

This alarming attack follows another incident involving a footballer, as national winger and Terengganu FC player Akhyar Rashid fell victim to robbery on May 2 after returning from training.
