Malaysian Woman Claims Korea Denied Her Entry, Korean User Calls Her a Liar
Viral Claim of Entry Denial Sparks Malaysia Korea Tension
A Malaysian woman has triggered heated debate on social media after alleging she was denied entry into South Korea without explanation. Her posts went viral almost immediately, but the backlash intensified when a Korean man publicly called her a liar and threatened to report her to state authorities.
The traveller, identified as Iffah Hannani, described her ordeal in a series of posts on Threads that accumulated over seven thousand likes and nearly three hundred thousand views.

Four Travellers Denied Entry While Five Others Allowed In
According to Iffah, she and three friends were detained for hours upon arrival despite having valid travel documents and no criminal history. The group had travelled together from Malaysia, but immigration officers split them between different counters. Five members passed through without issue, while four were held for questioning before being deported.
Iffah claimed the decision felt arbitrary because all nine travellers had identical itineraries, bookings, and supporting documents. The only difference, she said, was which officer happened to process them.
She also accused the Malaysian Embassy in Seoul of failing to provide support.
She wrote that she had called the embassy repeatedly, but received no assistance. In her words, the silence from the embassy felt like a message by itself.
Korean User Labels Her Claims as Fully Fabricated
While many Malaysians sympathised with Iffah, a Korean user named Park Young jin publicly challenged her story. Park accused her of fabricating the entire incident and referred to her posts as clickbait.
He claimed he had contacted both the Malaysian Embassy and Korean immigration officials, and insisted that neither party had records matching her allegations. Park then escalated his reaction by threatening to forward the matter to Korean state security, implying potential future entry bans for the individuals involved.
He also made remarks about the appearance of the Malaysian traveller, which drew additional criticism for being irrelevant and dismissive.
Critics Question Park’s Investigation and Tone
Park’s response sparked its own wave of criticism. Users accused him of approaching the situation from a biased angle, pointing out that asking authorities if they mishandled a case does not constitute an actual investigation.
Others highlighted the problematic nature of focusing on the woman’s attractiveness rather than the core issue of immigration inconsistency. User Eri Emiry questioned whether this pattern of disbelief mirrors how victims in other sensitive cases are often ignored.
Another commenter, Seokjiniejjang, criticised the one sided verification by Park and argued that dismissing allegations without speaking to the travellers themselves serves no purpose other than attempting to silence them.
More Malaysians Share Mixed Experiences With Korean Immigration
As the debate spread, more Malaysians came forward with their own stories. Some described smooth entry processes, while others recounted experiences similar to Iffah’s, raising questions about consistency and profiling.
Certain users suggested that South Korea may be applying stricter scrutiny due to increasing numbers of Malaysians working illegally in the country, often in dangerous and unregulated conditions. However, this still does not explain why identical travel documentation among the same group resulted in contrasting outcomes.
Authorities Remain Silent on the Controversy
Neither the Malaysian Embassy in Seoul nor South Korean immigration authorities have issued public statements regarding the case, leaving the public to debate the credibility of both sides based solely on personal accounts.
The ongoing disagreement highlights broader issues within travel systems, inconsistent border practices, and the tensions that can arise when personal testimonies clash with institutional silence.
