Thai Authorities Announce Compensation For Malaysians Injured In Narathiwat Bomb Attack

Thai Officials Visit Malaysian Victims After Narathiwat Bomb Attack

Thai authorities have announced financial assistance for the Malaysian victims injured in the Narathiwat bomb attack, which also damaged their Proton X50. Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Interior, Arsit Sampanrat, visited both the blast site near Tak Bai and the injured victims at Narathiwat Ratchanakarin Hospital. During the visit, he presented relief aid and assured that the Thai government would expedite assistance for those affected.

Investigation Continues Into Border Bombing

According to Thai authorities, the explosion occurred at around 11am and is believed to be linked to a series of recent attacks in Thailand’s southern border provinces, including Yala and Pattani. Preliminary investigations found that the explosive device consisted of two gas cylinders that were reportedly not manufactured in Thailand. Officials added that the Malaysian tourists were caught in the blast after a vehicle carrying local defence volunteers overtook their Proton X50 moments before the explosion. Authorities have also pledged to repair the damaged road and strengthen security measures in the affected area.

Compensation Includes Medical Aid And Vehicle Repairs

Following the Narathiwat bomb attack, Thai authorities confirmed that the injured Malaysians will receive financial assistance. A passenger who sustained serious injuries, including a fractured bone, will receive 50,000 baht (approximately RM6,100) from the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC), while the driver, who suffered minor injuries, will receive 10,000 baht (approximately RM1,220). The assistance package also includes financial support for repairing the damaged Proton X50. In addition, the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office will provide 2,600 baht to each victim, while the Narathiwat Red Crescent Society will contribute 3,000 baht for seriously injured victims and 2,000 baht for those with minor injuries, in accordance with its relief guidelines.
