Rapid KL Extend Operating Hours for Trains and Selected Buses on New Year’s Eve 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: The operating hours of the Rapid KL train and bus services will be extended this Sunday to meet the needs of the public attending New Year’s Eve celebrations in 2024.

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), in a statement yesterday, said the extended operating hours would involve 12 Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), and KL Monorail stations; three Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations; as well as 21 Rapid KL bus routes and MRT interchanges.

“The LRT, MRT, Monorail, and BRT stations that will have their operating hours extended until 1:30 am are the Kelana Jaya Route (KLCC and Masjid Jamek), Ampang/Sri Petaling Route (Masjid Jamek, Bandaraya, IOI Puchong Jaya, and Maluri), and Monorail Route (Bukit Bintang).

“Additionally, the Kajang Route (Bukit Bintang, TRX, Cochrane, and Maluri), MRT Putrajaya Route (TRX), and BRT Sunway Route (Sunway Lagoon, SunMed, SunU-Monash),” it said.

According to the statement, other stations will conclude operations as usual, but passengers can still exit the stations to continue their journey.

It advised passengers to use the Touch ‘n Go card for a smoother journey and to avoid congestion when entering and exiting stations or boarding buses, while token users are encouraged to purchase return tokens before leaving the station.

“Rapid KL will increase the number of staff and operational personnel to support operational needs and help facilitate the travel of users,” it said.

For the comfort of users, the frequency of trains for all LRT, MRT, and Monorail services will be increased from 1:00 pm on that day until the end of the operating hours.
