RTM Announces Immediate Suspension
RTM Announces Immediate Suspension
Malaysia’s national broadcaster, RTM, has officially suspended the children’s animated series Santiago Of The Seas with immediate effect. The decision aims to allow a full internal review of the show’s content following public concerns raised about a specific episode.
Episode 22 Sparked Public Claims

The move follows reactions to Episode 22, aired on 16 November 2025 at 10am on TV2. Although the initial review by RTM found no scenes suggesting same-sex behaviour or anything pointing toward such elements, the broadcaster issued a suspension as a precautionary measure due to public sensitivity.
RTM Explains Findings From Initial Screening
In its statement, RTM clarified that their preliminary assessment showed “no behaviour or affection that suggests a same-sex relationship, nor any element leading towards it.” Despite that conclusion, the broadcaster opted to halt the series until they can complete a full evaluation of all episodes to avoid confusion or misunderstanding.
Upholding Broadcasting Ethics
RTM reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all programmes aired on national television strictly adhere to broadcasting ethics. The broadcaster emphasised that viewer comfort and cultural sensitivity remain top priorities, which is why the temporary halt was deemed necessary.
Public Urged Not To Speculate
RTM also requested that the public refrain from spreading speculation or unverified claims. The broadcaster advised that any official information should be obtained directly from the Department of Broadcasting Malaysia to prevent misinformation.
