School Sessions in 11 States Begin Smoothly, Nearly Five Million Students Return

The 2025/2026 school session officially began on Monday for nearly five million students across 11 states, marking a smooth and orderly start. Schools in Group B reopened after Group A states—Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan—started a day earlier with 632,268 students.
Perak: Over 329,000 Students Begin Classes
In Perak, 329,344 students from 1,105 schools returned to school, including 141,436 secondary school students and 187,908 primary school pupils. Deputy Minister of Education, Wong Kah Woh, stated that 30,532 Year One pupils and 32,612 Form One students have enrolled this year.
Additionally, 573 preschools across the state welcomed 18,173 preschoolers on the first day of school. Wong visited Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Chung Tack in Kampung Simee, Ipoh, to observe the first-day operations.
Johor: Over 585,000 Students Back to School
In Johor, 585,220 students resumed their studies across 909 primary schools and 285 secondary schools. The Chairman of the State Education and Information Committee, Aznan Tamin, confirmed that the school session went smoothly, with 49,315 teachers on duty for the academic year.
During his visit to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seri Kota Puteri 4 in Pasir Gudang, Aznan noted that both schools and parents had made the necessary preparations to ensure an organized and structured start to the school year.
