Thai Woman Arrested After Trying to Buy “Ice You Can Smoke” From Undercover Cop

n a scene that could pass for dark comedy, a woman in her 40s was recently arrested in Pattaya’s Jomtien area after unknowingly trying to purchase drugs from an undercover police officer.

The woman approached a man she believed to be a drug dealer and confidently asked for “ice,” referring to the street name for crystal methamphetamine. Little did she know, the man was actually Deputy Inspector Prasit Boonprasit, a senior anti-drug officer leading an ongoing crackdown in the area.

Initially playing along, Prasit jokingly offered her a literal block of ice. The woman quickly corrected him: “Not this ice! I want the kind that you can smoke!”

She even tried to hush him, telling him it was fine and calling it the “work-hard drug,” as if attempting to normalise the illicit transaction.

Unbeknownst to her, backup officers had been observing from a distance and swiftly moved in. The woman still tried to proceed with the deal, only realising the truth when officers revealed their identities and placed her under arrest.

The incident happened on May 23 as part of a larger operation across Jomtien Sois 2, 3, and 4 aimed at cracking down on local drug activity. Another drug dealer in the area was also arrested during the sting.

The woman and the second suspect were taken to the police station for further drug testing and legal action.

Thailand has made headlines in recent months for its tough stance on narcotics, and this operation served as another warning to drug users and dealers.

“This operation sends a clear message that drug dealers and users will face serious consequences,” said Prasit. “We urge the public to stay away from these dangerous substances.”

Meanwhile, Malaysia has also issued public concern after discovering the presence of a dangerous substance known as the “Zombie Drug”—reportedly 50 times more powerful than cocaine.
