Cenderawasih Group, formed in Malaysia in 1981, comprises Helen Savari and Irene Savaree. They’re among the non-Malay acts that gained huge fame with their catchy tunes.

Their track “Deritamu Deritaku” from their debut album in 1984 was a hit among art lovers. Under a three-year deal with EMI, the group started their journey in the music scene.

Their debut album featured “Deritamu Deritaku” and they followed up with two more successful albums: Cenderawasih Volume 1 – Samangang Perjalanan Ini (1984), Cenderawasih Volume 2 (1985), and Cenderawasih Vol 3 (1986).

Despite their success, many didn’t know that the beloved Raya song “Bersama Di Hari Raya” was sung by these Indian siblings. It remains a timeless favorite during Hari Raya celebrations.

Netizens were amazed to see Helen and Irene singing the Raya song in an actual video clip. They also admired their strong bond, making it comfortable for them to sing songs from different cultures.

Today, Irene runs a music college in Kuala Lumpur named ICOM, while her sister Helen, along with her husband, resides in Switzerland, organizing the Jazzaar Festival focusing on music and youth.
