Woman Attacks Public in Kajang, Cites Study and Life Stress as Motive

Several shocking video clips went viral this week, showing a woman attacking a civilian with a knife near a shopping mall in Kajang, Selangor. Police now believe the incident was driven by severe stress related to her studies and life experiences in Malaysia.

Suspect Seen Driving Dangerously Before the Attack

According to Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, the incident took place after the suspect was seen driving erratically. She later exited her vehicle and attacked a member of the public with a sharp object.

“The suspect is believed to be disappointed with the treatment she received while studying and also life in Malaysia, causing her to feel stressed,” he said in an official statement.

Woman Allegedly Faced Stress From University Life

Police confirmed that the woman is a non-citizen and a student at a public university in Malaysia. While she has not clearly explained the exact nature of the “treatment” she referred to, authorities believe her mental state played a significant role in the incident.

“However, the suspect did not state what kind of treatment she received, and we are still investigating further to find the real cause,” Naazron added.

Seven-Day Remand for Investigation

The woman has been remanded for seven days until 20 August 2025 to assist in further investigation. Authorities are now working to better understand the context of her actions, including reviewing her background, psychological state, and any possible history of trauma or discrimination.

The incident has triggered public discussions around student mental health, especially for international students, and the need for support systems in academic environments.
