In today’s content creation world, many creators choose to focus on religious themes. However, it’s crucial to be mindful of sensitivities when producing such content.

A Moroccan YouTuber recently became the talk of social media after reciting Quran verses at Batu Caves. He has now publicly apologized for his actions.

In a video posted on his TikTok account, the YouTuber, known as Abdellatif Ouisa, explained that he initially thought Batu Caves was just a historical site.

Abdellatif mentioned that he didn’t realize his content, which involved reciting Quran verses at Batu Caves, would offend Malaysians, especially those of the Hindu faith.

He clarified that he often creates content involving Quran recitations in various places and countries he visits.

“I thought it was just a historical site where tourists could make social media content, so that’s what I did,” he explained.

“I didn’t think it would offend anyone, especially Hindus, and I apologize if it did. It wasn’t my intention to hurt anyone, destroy anything, or upset people with my Quran recitations.”

“This is my social media content, and I do it in every place and country I visit,” he said in the video.

Abdellatif also explained that he didn’t know the statue of Lord Murugan at Batu Caves was significant to the Hindu faith when he made the video.

As a Muslim, he said he only wanted to spread love but instead received many hateful messages.

“I feel terrible because of the hateful and threatening messages I’ve received,” he said.

“This is the content I create. I do it everywhere. I’m a Muslim, and I spread love through the Quran,” he added in the video.

He also apologized to Buddhists for reciting Quran verses in front of the Chin Swee Caves Temple in Genting Highlands.

Previously, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, criticized an individual for reciting Quran verses in front of a temple at Batu Caves recently.
