Go big or go home! Mumbai’s roads are closed for four days, from Friday to Monday (July 12 to 15), to accommodate the extravagant wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani.
This over-the-top celebration has captivated the internet, with its guest list featuring global political figures and Hollywood celebrities. Mukesh’s son, Anant, is tying the knot with Radhika Merchant, both 29 years old.
According to Reuters, Indian police have declared the wedding the biggest event of the year, even considering it a public event. Despite Mumbai’s notoriously hectic traffic, authorities have agreed to the road closures.
The festivities kicked off with traditional Hindu rituals on Friday. The weekend is packed with receptions attended by the rich and famous. Monday, July 15, will feature a special event for the management and staff of the Ambani household.
In true Ambani fashion, Mukesh spared no expense, renting three Falcon-2000 jets and deploying over 100 private jets to transport guests.
The BBC reports that pop stars like Drake, Lana Del Rey, and Adele are set to perform. Former British leaders Tony Blair and Boris Johnson also made appearances at the opulent event. Hollywood actor and wrestler John Cena attended and even snapped a picture with Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan.
Best wishes to the newlyweds!
