6 UPNM Students Sentenced to Death, Lawyers Reveal Weak Evidence

Source: Berita Harian
The conviction and death sentence of six former students from Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) is now a hotly debated case at the Federal Court. The lawyers representing the accused have challenged the decision, arguing that there are weaknesses in the prosecution’s evidence, including contradictions in the testimony of the main witness.
Weak Evidence, Conviction Questioned
During the Federal Court proceedings, the defense lawyers claimed that the High Court had made an error by relying on the testimony of Prosecution Witness 27 (SP27), the owner of the iron allegedly used in the incident.
According to the lawyers, this witness never saw the accused using the iron on the victim, yet the court still accepted the testimony as key evidence in this case.
Even more shocking, one of the lawyers argued that Zulfarhan’s death may have been caused by the side effects of the antibiotics given to him rather than entirely due to burn injuries, as previously reported.
Federal Court’s Decision Will Be the Deciding Factor
This case has now caught the attention of the entire country, as the Federal Court’s decision will determine whether the death sentences against the six accused will be upheld or overturned.
