Era FM’s 3 Pagi DJs Return to Airwaves After Suspension Over Viral Video
Radin, Azad, and Nabil are back hosting Era FM’s 3 Pagi show after a one-month suspension over a viral video controversy. Issue resolved after RM250,000 fine.
After a month-long suspension sparked by a viral video controversy, Era FM’s morning show hosts — Radin Amir Affendi Ahmad Aruani, Azad Jasmin, and Nabil Ahmad — are officially back on air. The trio resumed their duties today, 7 April, on the popular 3 Pagi Era segment.
The news of their return was announced via Era FM’s official Instagram page, with a post confirming that the three DJs would be back on the airwaves starting at 6am. The post was met with a wave of reactions from loyal listeners, many of whom expressed support and anticipation for the team’s return.
In a previous social media post, Radin, Azad, and Nabil thanked the public for their feedback — both supportive and critical — and acknowledged the importance of reflection during their time off the air. They also expressed gratitude for the concern shown by fans and promised to come back with a renewed sense of responsibility.
The trio, along with two other radio station staff, had been suspended following the circulation of a video in which they were seen allegedly mocking the kavadi dance — a sacred element of the Thaipusam celebration — while chanting “Vel Vel” and laughing. The video quickly went viral and drew significant backlash from the public.
In response, the three DJs issued a public apology and personally met with members of the Batu Caves temple committee to seek forgiveness and make amends.
Despite the apology, the incident was escalated to a police investigation. During the controversy, some defended the group by claiming they were mimicking the Paqueta dance, a popular celebratory move in football and Muay Thai culture, rather than intentionally mocking any religious practice.
Ultimately, Maestra Broadcasting Sdn Bhd, the operator of Era FM under Astro Media Group, was fined RM250,000 under Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 (Amended). The penalty was imposed for uploading offensive content through their official TikTok channel. Authorities deemed the matter resolved following the fine.
As the 3 Pagi Era team returns to the mic, many listeners are hopeful that this marks a new chapter — one of growth, maturity, and thoughtful entertainment.
