Hawaii Declares July 27, 2024, as ‘Ronny Chieng Day’ – Honouring Malaysia’s Comedy King!

It’s no secret that many Malaysians are making significant strides in major industries overseas. But have you ever heard of a Malaysian who has a DAY dedicated to them in a foreign country?

Malaysian comedian and actor Ronny Chieng might be the first, as O’ahu, Hawaii, has declared July 27, 2024, as Ronny Chieng Day! Sharing the exciting news on his Facebook page, Ronny posted the official proclamation of his special day.

He wrote, “July 27, 2024, is officially Ronny Chieng Day in O’ahu! Mahalo (a Hawaiian term for gratitude), Hawaii and Mayor Rick Blangiardi (the mayor of the City and County of Honolulu). I hope that I will always give more than I take here.”

According to the official proclamation document, Ronny Chieng Day is a tribute to the comedian’s excellence in multicultural comedy and the arts, as well as his unwavering commitment to showcasing the beauty, depth, and experiences of multiracial cultures.

“In the City and County of Honolulu, multicultural comedy and art are highly valued by our Rainbow State resident population, home to the nation’s largest share of multiracial Americans,” the proclamation read.
