95-Year-Old Woman Searching For Children She Left Decades Ago

Elderly Woman Hopes To Reunite With Her Children

A 95-year-old woman in Selangor is hoping to reconnect with the four children she left behind many decades ago after a dispute with her husband during her younger years.

According to reports from  China Press, the woman, identified as Su Shu Xin (transliteration), has been living at the Joy Garden Old Folks Home in Semenyih for the past 20 years.

Now in her twilight years, Su says her greatest wish is to see her children again and possibly return home if they are willing to accept her.

“If my children want to take me home, I will go; if they do not, I will continue living in the nursing home,” she said.

Children Would Now Be In Their 70s

Su shared that she and her husband had four children together — one daughter and three sons.

She identified them as Huang Mei Zhu, Huang Ying Tian, Ying Xiong, and Ying Xing. However, she only remembers their names in Hokkien and is unable to write their Chinese characters.

Based on her recollection, her children would now likely be in their seventies.

She also only has one photograph of herself from her younger days and hopes that her children might recognise her through it.

Left Family After Argument With Husband

Su explained that she got married at the age of 25 and started having children the following year.

However, after an argument with her husband, she left the family home. Her husband later remarried while their children remained with him.

At the time of the separation, her children were still in their teenage years.

Worked Various Jobs To Survive

After leaving her family, Su had to support herself by taking on various jobs.

She reportedly worked in wet markets, as a domestic helper, and later as a dishwasher. Despite the challenges, she continued working until she was 73 years old.

When she eventually became too old to work, she decided to move into a nursing home.

Nursing Home Has Been Her Home For 20 Years

Su said she feels grateful to have been accepted by the nursing home, where she has lived for two decades.

“I am still very blessed to have been accepted by the nursing home. I have lived here for 20 years, and the person in charge takes very great care of me.

“I don’t know where my children are, and they don’t know I am here. I want to see them,” she lamented.

Nursing Home Helps Search For Her Children

A spokesperson from the Joy Garden Old Folks Home shared that they have been trying to locate Su’s children for the past two years, but details about her family background remain limited.

Despite being 95 years old, Su is reportedly still in good health.

The nursing home manager said her mind remains sharp and she is still able to communicate well with others.

“Although she is 95 years old, she has no major health issues.

“Her mind is very clear, she can communicate with others, and she loves to talk. She can eat and change her own diapers by herself,” the manager explained.

Public Help Requested To Locate Her Family

Joy Garden Old Folks Home is a non-profit organisation that depends largely on public donations and support from private companies.

The home revealed that around 90% of its residents are single or have no relatives to rely on.

Anyone who may have information about Su’s children is encouraged to contact the nursing home at +6017-5531101 or +012-7833655.
