According to reports cited by CNN Indonesia, White House staff allegedly instructed that no items originating from China were allowed onto the presidential aircraft. One of the journalists covering the trip, Emily Goodin from The New York Times, claimed that American staff members collected all items given by Chinese officials before boarding the aircraft. According to her statement on X, the discarded items reportedly included press identification cards, disposable mobile phones issued to White House staff and delegation badges. “No items from China were allowed onto the aircraft. We are departing back to America immediately,” she reportedly wrote. Other White House reporters also confirmed that the items were gathered and thrown away before the delegation boarded Air Force One.

Despite the attention surrounding the incident, reports stated that such actions are considered standard security protocol for US delegations visiting certain countries, particularly nations that are not regarded as close strategic allies of Washington.
