Malaysian Job Seeker Shocked After RM2.4 Million Appears In Bank Account Linked To Alleged Scam

Job Offer Turns Into A Nightmare

A Malaysian man has claimed that what appeared to be a genuine job opportunity turned into a shocking ordeal after he allegedly discovered RM2.4 million in a bank account opened under his name. The 26-year-old, identified only as Jay, said he believed he had secured a customer service position before later realising his personal details had allegedly been exploited by a scam syndicate.

Bank Accounts And Company Allegedly Opened Using His Identity

Speaking during a press conference, Jay said the company provided accommodation, meals and a week-long training programme before instructing trainees to open bank accounts for salary payments. Although he eventually became suspicious and wanted to leave, he claimed he was persuaded to continue.

After the training ended, Jay said the company suddenly became unreachable. While trying to investigate the matter himself, he allegedly discovered that a company had been registered under his name without his knowledge. He also claimed multiple bank accounts had been opened using his identity, including accounts at banks he had never visited in person.

According to Jay, one of those accounts had allegedly been used to transfer RM2.4 million, despite the money having no connection to him.

More Accounts Allegedly Registered Without His Knowledge

Jay further claimed that his identity had also been used to register multiple mobile phone numbers and internet service accounts. He said terminating two broadband contracts alone would reportedly cost him around RM14,000 in penalties. The phone numbers were also allegedly used in scams targeting other victims.

The secretary-general of the Malaysian International Humanitarian Organisation (MHO), Datuk Hishammuddin Hashim, said the organisation will assist Jay in lodging a police report so that the allegations can be investigated by the relevant authorities.

At the time of writing, the claims remain allegations made by Jay, and investigations are expected to determine how his identity was allegedly misused.
