Ferrari Driver Finally Shares His Side
You’ve probably seen the viral video by now. A Ferrari driver ends up on the ground after an alleged assault during a road rage incident on the PLUS Highway. But according to him, what happened before that clip tells a very different story.
Businessman Tiang How Soon, 40, said the incident happened while he was travelling to Melaka with his wife and young son as part of a convoy. After stopping at a petrol station, he became separated from the rest of the group before the confrontation unfolded.
Says He Swerved To Avoid A Crash
According to the New Straits Times, Tiang claimed he was travelling at around 120kph when a vehicle ahead suddenly stopped. Fearing he would not be able to brake in time, he switched from the right lane to the left to avoid a more serious accident.
He said he noticed a Perodua Aruz about two or three car lengths behind him through his side mirror. Although there was no collision, he claimed the Aruz driver became angry and started shouting towards the passenger side of his Ferrari. Tiang said he tried explaining why he had changed lanes and even asked the other driver to calm down because his young son was already frightened. However, he alleged the situation escalated after he got out of his car, when he was punched and kicked despite several bystanders attempting to intervene.
Police Investigation Continues
The 35-second video of the confrontation quickly went viral, prompting Tiang to publicly explain what he claimed happened before the recording began. He also said the footage had created a negative perception of both himself and the motorsports community, adding that experienced racers understand the importance of road safety and do not treat public roads like racetracks.
It is understood that Tiang and the Aruz driver have since reached an amicable settlement. However, Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya confirmed that investigations are still ongoing. Both men have since been released on police bail.
