Due to an unfortunate incident involving the husband’s passport. Muhammad Fikry Azman, 29, revealed that he and his wife, Nur Amira Fatin Norazmi, had planned a tour to Turkey scheduled for December 17 through a travel agency, as reported by mStar.

Their troubles began at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) when, during the baggage check-in process, airline staff refused to accept Fikry’s passport, citing water damage.

Fikry explained that his passport had gotten wet during a heavy rainstorm on his way back from work in Singapore, where he works as a cleaner.

The airline employee expressed concerns about potential issues in Turkey, where local authorities might fine him. Fikry shared, “It was not the immigration officer who stopped me, but rather the airline’s employee when I wanted to check in my luggage. The passport must not be exposed to water because it might cause the writing on the document to swell or damage the entry or exit stamps in the passport,” as quoted by Berita Harian.

The couple had planned a nine-day trip to Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, and Bursa as a double celebration for their honeymoon and their birthdays on December 22 and 23.

Unfortunately, the entire non-refundable trip cost them over RM16,000.

Fikry shared that the night before their flight, they were busy with last-minute shopping and currency exchange, leaving no time to dry his passport. Attempts to dry it at KLIA’s restroom proved futile.

Having worked in Singapore for over three years, Fikry understood the seriousness of the situation when the airline employee conveyed that his passport did not meet immigration inspection standards. He admitted to crying at the airport upon realizing the situation.

As of now, Fikry’s TikTok video recounting his ruined honeymoon has gained over 480,000 views. He shared his experience as a cautionary tale, highlighting the importance of protecting passports from rain and the potential consequences of seemingly minor oversights.
