Auntie Anne’s Malaysia has terminated a female staff member at its Mid Valley Megamall outlet after videos and photos went viral, showing her playing with and kissing raw dough.
The woman, identified as Alice Chang, posted videos and photos online expressing her enjoyment of her job while interacting with the dough inappropriately.
In a statement released on social media on 8 October, the pretzel chain emphasized its commitment to hygiene and safety, stating, “We do not condone or tolerate any actions that compromise the highest standards of hygiene and safety for our customers and staff.”
Following the incident, the affected outlet has been temporarily closed for disinfection, with plans to reopen once all necessary safety protocols are confirmed.
Earlier, Chang, allegedly related to a public figure named Adeline Chang, had shared content showcasing her antics with the dough, which has since been removed. However, many internet users downloaded and re-uploaded the footage, leading to a wave of backlash.
Customers and online users expressed their outrage, calling for immediate action against the employee. Comments included criticism like, “She [is] ruin[ing] your reputation. She kiss[ed] the dough!!”
In an 18-second clip that circulated online, Chang was seen playing with the dough while pretending to kiss it. Subsequent photos depicted her sniffing the dough and kissing it while facing the camera.
