Malaysian Influencer Honoured by Fire Department After Flood Rescue Missions
Malaysian influencer Han Xiao Ai has been officially recognised by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) for her active involvement in disaster rescue operations, highlighting the growing role of civilians and volunteers in humanitarian response efforts.

The certificate of commendation was presented on Sunday (4 January) by JBPM Director-General Dato’ Sri Ts. Nor Hisham, in recognition of her contributions during recent flood rescue missions, including operations outside Malaysia.
Recognised for Flood Rescue Work in Thailand

JBPM cited Han’s participation in flood relief operations in Hatyai, Thailand, where she worked alongside the volunteer fire brigade to assist victims affected by severe flooding. The department also acknowledged the collective efforts of the volunteer brigade involved in the mission, describing their performance as exemplary.
The recognition was presented during a commissioning ceremony for new equipment and vessels at the Taman Seri Serdang Volunteer Fire Brigade. During his address, Nor Hisham praised the team’s professionalism and commitment, noting that their actions reflected the spirit of volunteerism JBPM hopes to cultivate nationwide.
Appointed Team Leader of Volunteer Fire Brigade

Beyond the certificate of commendation, Han Xiao Ai also received an official letter of appointment naming her the team leader of the Serdang Volunteer Fire Brigade, effective 5 January.
According to reports by China Press, she was also the first individual invited to take a group photo with the newly commissioned fire truck and rescue equipment, symbolising her leadership role within the volunteer unit.
“Not for Attention, But Because People Needed Help”
In response to the recognition, Han emphasised that her involvement in rescue work was never driven by publicity.
She explained that witnessing people trapped by floods compelled her to step forward, adding that she could not stand by while others were in danger.
In a Facebook post shared today, Han said this was not her first rescue mission and would not be her last, signalling her continued commitment to volunteer emergency response work.
A Track Record of Disaster Response
Han Xiao Ai’s involvement in rescue operations dates back several years. She previously took part in flood relief efforts in Shah Alam in 2021 and Johor in 2023, working alongside volunteer teams to assist displaced residents.
Her recognition by JBPM underscores a broader shift in how disaster response increasingly relies on collaboration between official agencies and trained civilian volunteers, especially during large-scale emergencies.
