On the evening of January 27, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong attended a farewell banquet hosted by the Malaysian government in Kuala Lumpur, marking the conclusion of his reign before stepping down on January 30. However, an endearing moment from the banquet, after its formal conclusion, has been making waves online.
In a TikTok video shared by Malaysian artist Raja Ridzwan (@rajaridzwan), the creator captured a brief yet touching interaction between him and his fellow performers with the Agong and Permaisuri Agong as they were leaving the event. Raja Ridzwan, a member of the Department of Culture & Arts (JKKN) in Johor, and his team had performed at the banquet.
As the performers descended an escalator, they bid farewell to the Royal couple, who reciprocated the gesture with waves and greetings. However, the most heartwarming moment occurred when Raja Ridzwan held his hand in a finger heart symbol. The Permaisuri Agong, standing just behind the Agong, mirrored the gesture, showing the same symbol to the other dancers.
Notably, behind the royal couple stood the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, and his spouse, Dato’ Seri Dr Wan Azizah binti Wan Ismail. They, too, waved and interacted with the dancers, with DSAI even blowing a kiss to the group.
The video received widespread praise, with many expressing awe at the friendly and playful demeanor not only of the King and Queen but also of the Prime Minister, highlighting a sweet and approachable interaction with the people.
