JAIM Terminates Mosque Secretary After Porn Video Incident in Melaka
JAIM Confirms Termination After Governance Committee Meeting

The Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) has officially terminated the services of a mosque secretary in Bukit Baru after he was caught watching pornographic videos using mosque equipment.
The decision was finalised during a Mosque Governance Committee (JKTU) meeting held this morning, following the submission of a resignation letter by the individual involved.
State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Exco Datuk Rahmad Mariman confirmed that the resignation effectively ended the individual’s roles as both the mosque secretary and the chairman of a village surau in Paya Ikan, positions that were appointed by JAIM.
Incident Triggered By Video Recorded Inside Mosque
The controversy began after a video circulated online showing the secretary watching explicit content within the mosque premises. The footage was recorded by the mosque’s Imam, who said it was taken as evidence to be submitted to the relevant authorities.
According to Datuk Rahmad, the JKTU reviewed the case and agreed to proceed with termination based on the resignation letter received.
“The committee discussed the matter and decided to terminate his services following his resignation,” he said during a press conference on 27 January.
Imam’s Resignation Left To Mosque Management
The Imam involved later stepped down from his position after being instructed by the mosque chairman. However, Datuk Rahmad clarified that the Imam’s status is not under JAIM’s jurisdiction.
He explained that the Imam was appointed directly by the mosque committee and receives an allowance from the mosque, not JAIM. As such, the decision to accept or reject his resignation lies solely with the mosque’s management.
Imam Denies Circulating Viral Footage
In an official statement, the Imam denied allegations that he had shared the video online. He stated that the recording was made on 27 December 2025 strictly as evidence and submitted only to relevant authorities.
JAIM confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify the individual responsible for leaking the footage to the public.
JAIM Emphasises Governance And Accountability
JAIM stressed that the matter was handled in accordance with governance procedures and reiterated its commitment to accountability within religious institutions.
No further disciplinary action has been announced at this stage.
