Johor Bahru Resident Shocked After Thief Steals Caged Cat in Broad Daylight

Residents of Taman Jaya Mas, Johor Bahru, were left outraged after CCTV footage captured a man boldly entering a home compound and stealing a pet cat — still inside its cage. The shocking incident has since gone viral, sparking anger among netizens.

In the video, which was shared on the JBTALKS Facebook page, the thief can be seen climbing over a wall before making his way to the pet’s cage, which was located off-camera. Moments later, he is seen picking up the entire cage, with the cat still inside, and tossing it back over the wall before making his escape.

The cat, identified as a one-year-old male Persian-Maine Coon mix, is believed to have been specifically targeted by the thief. According to the post, the suspect’s getaway vehicle — with its license plate clearly visible — was also captured by the CCTV footage. This vital clue has since been widely circulated online to help identify the culprit.

The cat’s owner’s friend has since turned to social media for assistance in locating the thief and recovering the stolen pet. Outraged netizens have condemned the incident, with many calling for stricter penalties for pet theft to deter future cases.

Concerns over rising pet theft cases are growing, particularly with the increasing number of valuable or purebred animals being targeted. Pet owners are now being urged to improve home security, such as locking cages, upgrading CCTV systems, and ensuring pets are not left unattended outside.
