Kedah Man Shocked As 5.5m Python Swallows Calf Whole

Shocking Discovery In Kedah Plantation

A cattle owner in Baling, Kedah was left in shock after discovering a horrifying scene involving his missing 5-month-old calf. The incident took place in Kampung Tembak B near Paya Keladi, where the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) was called in after reports of a massive python swallowing the animal inside an oil palm plantation. The situation quickly gained attention after APM Baling shared photos and videos of the incident.

Python Found Mid-Meal

According to APM, the emergency call was received at around 8:20 pm, and a team of four personnel was immediately dispatched to the location. The python, measuring approximately 5.5 metres in length and weighing 45 kilogrammes, was found in the middle of swallowing the calf, with half of the animal’s body already inside its mouth. The incident reportedly happened about 500 metres away from nearby homes, raising concerns among residents.

Owner’s Shock & Public Warning

The cattle owner, 57-year-old Wan Hasbullah Wan Ismail, explained that the calf had gone missing earlier in the day while grazing. He was shocked to find the python in the act, adding that he had never seen such a large snake in the area before. He believed the extreme heat may have driven the snake out in search of food and shelter. Authorities have since advised the public to stay alert and immediately contact relevant agencies if they encounter similar situations, as wildlife may increasingly appear near residential areas due to changing environmental conditions.
