Trump to Ban Citizens from 11 Countries from Entering the US – Is Malaysia Included?

US President Donald Trump is reportedly considering reintroducing a travel ban on citizens from 11 countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, and several others.
According to reports from Reuters and The New York Times, the countries likely to face the travel ban include Afghanistan, Pakistan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen.
One of the most affected groups would be the thousands of Afghan citizens who have worked with the US military for the past two decades. Approximately 200,000 Afghan nationals are currently awaiting approval for Special Immigrant Visas (SIV) to move to the US. These individuals face threats from the Taliban for their previous cooperation with the US military. If this ban is enforced without exceptions, their hopes of relocating to the US may become even slimmer.
This isn’t Trump’s first attempt at implementing a travel ban. During his first term, he introduced multiple travel restrictions targeting Muslim-majority countries. In 2017, Trump enforced his first travel ban, which targeted seven Muslim-majority nations. Despite legal challenges, the US Supreme Court eventually upheld the ban in 2018.
As of now, Malaysia is not included in the list of countries potentially impacted by this travel ban. However, it’s crucial to stay updated as this list could change at any time. The potential travel ban is expected to spark controversy and may strain US diplomatic relations with the affected countries. Additionally, it could further damage the US’s image as a nation that promotes freedom and human rights.
