Woman Allegedly Approaches Travellers With Sob Story at KLIA

A video circulating online has raised concern after showing a woman allegedly attempting to scam travellers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The woman was seen approaching members of the public and asking for money under the pretext of being stranded without cash.

According to the individual who recorded the video, the woman first asked whether the victim could speak Chinese before claiming she had been separated from her friend and needed money for transportation.

Unable to ignore what he believed was a scam, the man decided to follow the woman and record the interaction. In the video, he explained that he noticed her repeatedly approaching travellers near the airport exit area.

As the confrontation continued and the woman realised she was being filmed, she appeared visibly uncomfortable and began to walk away.

Woman Runs Away After Being Filmed

Moments later, the woman was seen fleeing the scene, running off as the situation drew more attention. The incident quickly went viral after being shared on social media platforms.

Netizens Claim Similar Scams Are Common

Following the viral clip, netizens claimed that similar scams have occurred at airports and transport hubs. Some alleged that scammers often dress neatly and use emotional stories, including claims of losing money at casinos or being unable to afford food, to lower people’s guard.

Several users urged travellers to remain vigilant and avoid giving cash to strangers at airports, encouraging anyone suspicious to report such incidents to the authorities instead.
