According to Buenos Aires police, Payne died after falling from the window of a hotel in the Palermo neighborhood. Authorities are investigating the incident, which occurred on Wednesday, following a 911 call about an aggressive individual potentially under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Payne was recently seen in Argentina attending a concert by his former bandmate, Niall Horan, on October 2. He had just celebrated his 31st birthday in the UK, where he had shared videos on social media, marking the occasion with friends and fans.
Born in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, Payne rose to international fame as part of One Direction, which was formed in 2010 after the group competed on The X Factor UK. Along with bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, One Direction became one of the most successful boybands in history.
