Malaysian Drivers With Unpaid Fines May Be Barred From Entering Singapore
Singapore Warns Malaysian Drivers Over Unpaid Fines
Singaporean authorities have issued a stern warning to foreign drivers, especially Malaysians, regarding outstanding traffic fines — pay up or risk being denied entry.
Over RM2.2 Million Collected in Just Three Days
In a three-day enforcement operation earlier this month, Singaporean police managed to collect over S$619,000 (approximately RM2.2 million) from 241 foreign drivers with unpaid fines, according to the New Straits Times.
The fines included various traffic, parking, and other vehicle-related violations.
No Payment, No Entry
Drivers who failed to settle their fines were stopped at the land checkpoints and required to make payment on the spot before being allowed to proceed.
“Singapore takes a serious view of foreign motorists who commit offences and fail to settle their fines,” police said in an official statement.
They added that foreign drivers who repeatedly ignore fines may face entry bans in the future.
Follow Traffic Laws & Vehicle Standards
Authorities also stressed the importance of obeying all traffic laws and adhering to vehicle emission standards when driving into Singapore.
To avoid last-minute trouble at the border, drivers — particularly Malaysians — are encouraged to check for any outstanding fines on www.axs.com.sg before entering the country.
