Malaysian Influencer Couple Loses 2-Year-Old Son in Tragic Drowning Incident

Having a child comes with immense responsibility, and even the most attentive parents can face heartbreaking accidents.

Recently, Malaysian influencer Jasmine Yong 香米 shared a devastating story on her Instagram about the loss of her 2-year-old son in a drowning incident. Jasmine and her husband, Lim Kong Wang, also an influencer, were asleep in a hotel when the tragedy occurred.

Jasmine wrote, “Our darling. It is with a heavy heart that I am informing you that our baby, Enzo’s heart had stopped beating yesterday afternoon (17 May). Despite there being enough oxygen supply, our baby, Enzo, has become a happy little angel. There is no more pain or hardship. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and blessings.”

The Incident

Jasmine recounted the events leading up to the tragedy. The family had checked into a hotel on Saturday (May 11) to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday (May 12). After drinking milk, their 2-year-old son fell asleep in the arms of his parents. Thinking he was safe, Jasmine and her husband decided to take a nap as well.

Tragically, they awoke to find their son missing. “He snuggled up to us as always and fell asleep drinking milk. We also took a nap and woke up to find that he wasn’t with us. We saw that the door to the indoor pool, which was originally locked, had been opened, and we found Enzo in the pool,” Jasmine shared.

Jasmine attempted emergency CPR but got no response. Due to poor network coverage at the hotel, they couldn’t call for help immediately. They carried their son to the hotel lobby, where staff managed to call for an ambulance.

“Half an hour after being sent to the hospital, our baby finally regained his heartbeat but remained in a coma. Our baby fought very hard until yesterday afternoon (May 17), when his heart stopped beating despite there being enough oxygen,” she explained.

Jasmine emphasized that no parent wants such an accident to happen and asked everyone to think peaceful thoughts for her son.
