Malaysian Man Harasses Female Tour Guide in Japan Over Turf Dispute

Malaysian Man Slammed for Harassing Female Tour Guide in Japan Over Turf Dispute

A disturbing encounter between two Malaysians in Japan has gone viral, sparking outrage across social media. A female tour guide, working in Tokyo, was reportedly harassed by a Malaysian man who accused her of “trespassing” on what he claimed was his working territory.

Caught on Camera: “You’re Stealing My Customers!”

The incident, which was caught on video and uploaded to TikTok, shows the man approaching the female guide aggressively. He accused her of disrupting his business and claimed she had no right to operate on “his turf” in Japan.

Despite her efforts to remain calm and composed, the man continued berating her publicly in front of a group of tourists, some of whom appeared visibly uncomfortable. He demanded she leave the area, claiming he had already been there for years and had built his network from scratch.

Female Guide Maintains Professionalism Despite Harassment

The female guide, clearly shocked by the confrontation, handled the situation with professionalism. According to onlookers, she refrained from engaging in a heated argument and instead attempted to de-escalate the situation.

She later shared her side of the story, explaining that Japan’s public spaces are not owned or monopolised by individuals — and that she had the right to work in the area, just like any other guide.

Netizens Furious at “Territorial” Behaviour

The video quickly went viral, with Malaysian netizens expressing anger and disappointment over the man’s behaviour. Many criticised him for acting entitled and unprofessional, especially on foreign soil.

“You don’t own the streets of Japan. Everyone has the right to work and earn a living,” one comment read.

“His attitude is shameful. We should support fellow Malaysians overseas, not tear each other down,” another user added.

Industry Insiders Condemn Unethical Conduct

Several individuals from the travel and tourism industry have weighed in on the issue, calling the man’s actions unethical and damaging to Malaysia’s reputation abroad. They also warned of the consequences such confrontations can bring to Malaysian tour operators trying to make a living overseas.

“It’s a highly competitive field, but that doesn’t justify bullying or territorial behaviour,” one industry professional said.

No Legal Grounds for “Exclusive Rights” in Japan

Japanese law does not allow anyone to claim public areas as private business zones, especially in tourism-related activities. Both parties, if legally registered and licensed, have equal rights to operate unless otherwise restricted by local authorities.

At the time of writing, no official legal action has been taken, but the video continues to circulate widely as a cautionary tale about professionalism, boundaries, and conduct — especially when representing one’s country abroad.
