Introducing Jibek, the grey Maine Coon mix who’s redefining what it means to be a running buddy! Instead of pounding the pavement himself, this pampered feline prefers to lounge atop his human, Apak’s shoulders, as they conquer runs together.

Recently, TikTok user @jibek.hikers.cat, or Apak, shared an adorable video of their adventure during “The Magnificent Baling 100” race in Kedah, which featured a 10km course. In the clip, Jibek can be seen relaxing comfortably, resembling a furry, purring scarf, while Apak takes on the challenge.

At one point, Jibek leans forward, seemingly urging Apak to push through to the finish line, all while sporting a pair of stylish blue shades that only enhance his cool factor. The video quickly racked up nearly 700,000 views on TikTok, melting hearts everywhere.

“Meow… his style is crazy, wearing sunglasses!” one netizen marveled at Jibek’s fashionable look. Another praised his calm demeanor throughout the race, to which Apak proudly described his cat as a “pious” companion.

However, one user jokingly remarked, “People join marathons to relieve burdens, but this burden follows you.” Apak swiftly corrected them, asserting that Jibek is anything but a burden; he’s a cherished companion.

In an interview Apak revealed that he’s been carrying Jibek on his runs since 2017, participating in about 45 events together. “Cute to look at, heavy for the shoulders to carry,” a user quipped. Apak humorously responded, “I’ve been carrying [Jibek] for the last seven years; it doesn’t feel heavy anymore.”
