Missing Mother Taken From Nursing Home Before EPF Release

Family Desperate As Woman Disappears Days Before EPF Withdrawal

In a troubling turn of events, a 50-year-old woman has gone missing after being allegedly taken from a nursing home, mere days before becoming eligible to access her EPF (Employees Provident Fund) savings.

Ain Nurzaheera Zahirudin, together with her husband Omar Rizal, has launched a public plea to help locate her mother, Afiza Awang, who they claim was removed by her estranged husband on 29 July. Ain believes her mother’s disappearance may be linked to financial motives, especially as Afiza is set to turn 50 on 1 August — the age at which Malaysians can withdraw from their EPF account.

Claims of Isolation, Abuse, and Financial Control

Through an emotional post on Instagram, Ain alleged that Afiza had been living in isolation at a nursing home since 2015, without access to a phone or family visitors.

“She was dumped in a home at 40 years old, labelled unstable without proof,” Ain wrote.

She also accused her father of making remarks such as, “Why would the kids want to care for their mother? For wealth?” in front of law enforcement, indicating that tensions within the family go beyond care responsibilities.

Husband’s Alleged Infidelity and Forced Polygamy

Adding to the controversy, Afiza reportedly shared her experience of being pressured into a polygamous marriage. According to a video shared by Ain and Omar, Afiza claimed her husband had cheated on her and attempted to marry his mistress. When she refused to consent, she was allegedly taken to a religious authority and coerced into signing the documents.

Further, it was claimed that Afiza’s husband instructed the nursing home to withhold any information about her from potential callers, effectively cutting her off from loved ones.

Worries Over Misuse of EPF Funds

Omar took to Instagram to express fears that Afiza’s EPF savings may be misused. “We have less than 48 hours to act,” he said, urging the public to assist in locating her.

The couple has also started a donation drive to help fund legal action and rescue efforts.

“Even I Don’t Hit My Children” – Afiza Breaks Down

In one heartbreaking moment, Ain asked Afiza how she felt seeing her children allegedly assaulted by her husband’s second wife. Afiza, visibly emotional, replied, “Even I don’t beat my own children.”

According to Afiza, she is mentally sound, confirmed by her OKU (Persons with Disabilities) card as having only physical disabilities due to a stroke.

Public Urged to Assist

So far, the identity of the husband has not been disclosed publicly, although it’s mentioned he works in the aviation sector. Anyone with information is urged to contact Ain or Omar via their social media platforms.
