It’s raining discounts for traffic offenders in Malaysia! Over 32,000 individuals cleared their outstanding traffic summonses, all thanks to a generous 60% discount offered during the Madani Anniversary celebration.
From November 22 to 24, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) held a special three-day programme, where a massive 103,590 summonses, totaling over RM9 million, were paid off. It’s clear that the discount helped encourage the public to settle their dues, with cash and e-payments both contributing to the high collection.
The top violations that were cleared included speeding, running red lights, and illegal parking—issues that are all too common on Malaysian roads.
According to the Director of Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement, Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, this success was also partly due to the MyBayar PDRM app and the web portal, which enabled cashless transactions. “We are working hard to make the payment process as easy as possible for everyone,” he said, highlighting the increasing number of people registering for the service.
The programme also saw many members of the public visiting the police booth at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) during the anniversary event to clear their fines.
In a statement, the police expressed their gratitude to everyone who participated, urging road users to avoid committing traffic offences in the future for everyone’s safety.
