Naked Jogger in Shah Alam Previously Received Psychiatric Treatment, Police Confirm

An 18-year-old man who was seen jogging naked near Persiaran Kayangan in Section 8, Shah Alam, on the morning of 8 April, has a history of psychiatric treatment, according to police.

ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, Chief of Shah Alam District Police, said the incident was first reported around 8:30am and quickly went viral on social media after it was covered by local platform SEISMIK.

Officers from the Section 6 police station were dispatched to the scene, where they managed to calm the man down before taking him into custody.

“After persuading and calming him, our personnel brought the individual back to the police station. He was then given clothing,” Iqbal said in an official statement.

Man Only Communicated Through Hand Signals

The young man, who reportedly could not speak properly, used hand gestures to communicate and later wrote down a phone number, which belonged to his uncle.

Police contacted the uncle, who later arrived at the station and revealed that the teen had been living with him in Section 9, Shah Alam. He also confirmed that the teen had previously received psychiatric treatment at Seberang Jaya Hospital in Penang.

Teen Handed Over for Further Treatment

The teen was subsequently handed over to his uncle, who brought him to Shah Alam Hospital for further psychiatric evaluation and treatment.
