Non-Muslim Woman Explains Why She Chooses Halal Bones for Soup
Non-Muslim Woman Shares Preference for Halal Beef Bones

A non-Muslim woman living in Singapore has gone viral on TikTok after explaining why she prefers buying halal beef bones when cooking soup and broth, despite not practising Islam.
Through her TikTok account @plzimfragile, she shared that her choice is based purely on hygiene, cooking quality, and taste rather than religious reasons.

According to the woman, beef bones sourced from halal butchers tend to have significantly less blood residue compared to those purchased from non-halal sources.
She explained that halal slaughtering requires blood to be fully drained from the animal, which she believes results in cleaner bones and better cooking outcomes.
“Tulang-tulang itu lebih bersih dan tidak mempunyai darah yang banyak seperti tulang dari tempat lain,” she said.
Less Scum, Clearer Soup
The woman added that when boiling bones for soup stock, she usually discards the first round of water to remove impurities or scum.
However, she noticed that halal beef bones produce noticeably less scum during boiling, resulting in clearer soup with a cleaner taste.
She also mentioned that halal bones tend to have less of the strong “gamey” or unpleasant meat smell often associated with bone broth.
Taste and Cooking Quality Make the Difference
Beyond cleanliness, she believes halal meat absorbs seasoning better and produces richer, more balanced soup flavours.
In a follow-up video, she explained that the blood removal process during halal slaughter may reduce bacteria, toxins, and excess lactic acid, all of which can affect taste and smell.
Why Some Believe Halal Meat Tastes Better
Referencing information from Halal Food Council USA, blood is known to carry bacteria and impurities, which can interfere with flavour absorption.
This, she noted, could explain why many people, including non-Muslims, find halal meat more tender and pleasant to eat.
“Cuba masak guna tulang halal, anda akan faham apa yang saya maksudkan,” she added.
