Residents of Kampung Kuyung and Parit Kasa in Parit Buntar, Perak, were recently left unsettled after reports of a mysterious “pocong” appearing near a road junction at night.
However, what initially sparked fear among villagers has now been exposed as nothing more than a prank.
The ghostly figure was later revealed to be a young man dressed in white, attempting to scare a friend who was passing through the area.
Video Shared On TikTok Exposes The Truth
The incident gained traction after a TikTok user known as Solo Ambush shared a video showing the supposed “pocong” hiding behind bushes near the junction in Kampung Parit Kasa.
In the clip, the figure could be seen lurking quietly, adding to the eerie atmosphere that quickly fuelled speculation online.
But it did not take long for villagers to discover that the haunting sight was staged.
Prankster Publicly Apologises
Following the backlash, the young man released a video apologising for his actions.
“I want to apologise for dressing up as a pocong and to say sorry to all the villagers. I also apologise for causing a disturbance and pulling this prank,” he said.
He clarified that he was not responsible for any earlier reports of pocong sightings in the area, claiming he had only started the prank recently.
“The reason I did it was that I deliberately wanted to prank the TikTok user, and I had no other intentions. I really just wanted to prank the TikTok user,” he explained.
Promises Not To Repeat The Stunt
At the end of his apology video, the prankster assured villagers that he would not repeat the act.
“I promise not to do it again,” he said, acknowledging the disturbance and fear caused to the community.
While some netizens found the incident amusing, many pointed out that such pranks can create unnecessary panic, especially in small communities.
