Rahmah Cash Aid Phase 2 Rolls Out 24 March — Here’s What You Need to Know

As the festive season approaches, many Malaysians are feeling the pinch as their household budgets tighten. With the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration just around the corner, the MADANI government has announced some timely financial relief.

STR Phase 2 Distribution Begins on 24 March

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) revealed that Phase 2 of the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) will be distributed in stages starting Monday, 24 March. Nearly nine million recipients are expected to benefit from this assistance.

In a move to better support citizens, the government has increased this year’s STR allocation from RM1.5 billion to RM1.7 billion.

Who Will Receive the Aid?

Eligible recipients fall under four categories, with financial support ranging from RM150 to RM650 depending on income levels:

Households earning below RM2,500: RM150 – RM650

Households earning RM2,501 to RM5,000: RM100 – RM300

Senior citizens without partners: RM150

Single individuals: RM150

Financial Support for Festive Preparations

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that the government remains committed to easing the financial strain on citizens, particularly during festive seasons.

“The MADANI government remains attentive to the needs of the people in facing the burdens of living costs, especially ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said.

He added that allocations for STR and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) will increase by RM3 billion in 2025 — a 30% boost, raising the total allocation to RM13 billion. This initiative aims to improve the quality of life for Malaysians in a fair and inclusive manner.

How Will Payments Be Made?

For recipients with bank accounts, STR payments will be credited directly into their accounts. For those without bank accounts, including recipients in Sabah, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan, payments can be collected in cash at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches.

STR 2025 Registration Open Year-Round

The MoF has also introduced a new system where STR 2025 registration remains open throughout the year. This move aims to ensure that more eligible Malaysians can access financial aid when needed.

Those who are not listed in the STR database must apply through the official STR portal to have their eligibility assessed and verified.
