“Ronny Chieng Roasted Over Malaysia’s Paris 2024 Olympics Performance on The Daily Show”

Ronny Chieng, the Malaysian comedian and host on The Daily Show, found himself in the hot seat recently when his home country’s Olympic performance became the punchline of a skit. In a segment meant to parody the wild and gambling-obsessed world of American sports shows, Malaysia was unexpectedly thrown into the mix.

As the skit wrapped up, Chieng and co-host Michael Kosta dove into the ‘final medal count’ of the Paris 2024 Olympics. But instead of the full rundown, Kosta only highlighted three countries: the USA with a whopping 126 medals, China with 91, and then, oddly enough, Singapore with just a single medal.

Kosta wasted no time poking fun at Chieng for Singapore’s lonely medal, noting that Chieng had spent part of his childhood in the country. Not one to back down, Chieng fired back by showing a different medal table, this one adjusted for population size, which placed Grenada in 1st place, while the mighty USA was knocked down to 59th.

But the roasting didn’t stop there. The skit took another turn when Kosta hilariously confused Grenada with Canada. From there, they jumped into the “Freeballin’ College Fund Quadrupler Bet of the Evening,” a ridiculous betting segment that asked, “Which country that Ronny grew up in will embarrass themselves at the 2028 Olympics?”

The betting odds were displayed with Singapore at -150, Malaysia at -250, and Australia leading the charge at -325. For those not in the know, the negative odds indicate which country is the favorite to flop.

Chieng, clearly not thrilled with the jab, sulked through the segment before the skit came to an end
