Users Frustrated as Waze App Unexpectedly Switches to Foreign Languages

Source: The Rakyat Post

Malaysian Waze users experienced a strange glitch yesterday when the app started randomly switching languages, including Arabic, Hebrew, Russian, and Spanish.

The issue, which appeared to affect users globally, left many frustrated as language changes disrupted navigation mid-journey. Despite multiple attempts to reset the language to English, many users couldn’t fix the problem, prompting them to share their concerns online.

Outage tracker DownDetector showed the issue began around 8 pm, with over 219 reports logged. Reports suggested the glitch impacted not only the app’s language but also its vehicle icons, text notices, and buttons.

While some users speculated that the app had been hacked, Waze clarified through UK’s The Sun that the disruption was due to an internal bug. The company assured users it was actively working to resolve the problem, which now appears to be fixed.
