Wrong-Way Rider’s Post-Crash Pose Sparks Stephen Chow Comparisons
Wrong-Way Crash Turns Into Internet Moment

A traffic accident in Pasir Gudang, Johor, has gone viral for reasons no one expected. What should have been a straightforward road safety case quickly turned into a pop culture moment, thanks to one very unusual pose.
According to circulating footage, a motorcyclist was riding against traffic before colliding head-on with a car. The impact alone was alarming, especially since the rider was not wearing a helmet. In situations like this, injuries can easily turn fatal.
But what happened next left the internet stunned.
The Pose That Broke The Internet
Instead of scrambling in pain or panic, the rider calmly lay across the car’s bonnet and slowly adjusted his position, even while the driver repeatedly pressed the horn.
His relaxed, horizontal posture immediately reminded netizens of the iconic “Sleeping Drunken Boxing” technique from the 1992 comedy film King of Beggars, starring Stephen Chow.
In the film, Chow’s character appears to fight while lying down or pretending to sleep. The resemblance was uncanny enough that social media users began flooding comment sections with jokes like, “He definitely watched Stephen Chow films,” and “Perfect sleeping boxing technique.”
If this were a movie set, someone would probably shout, “Cut! Perfect take!”
What Police Say About The Incident
Seri Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak confirmed that the 10:30 PM accident occurred on Jalan Masai Lama.
The 22-year-old foreign rider, travelling on a Honda Wave, allegedly emerged from the opposite direction before colliding with a Volkswagen GTI driven by a 29-year-old local man.
The motorcyclist was injured and taken to Sultan Ismail Hospital for treatment. The car driver was unharmed.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Transport Act 1987.
Humour Aside, Serious Safety Concerns
While many found the scene unintentionally hilarious, others were quick to highlight the serious dangers involved.
Riding against traffic is already a major risk. Doing so without a helmet multiplies the danger. A head-on collision at night could easily end in tragedy.
Some netizens even speculated whether the unusual calmness after the crash might suggest insurance fraud, questioning whether the accident was staged. However, there is no official confirmation supporting such claims.
Internet Laughs, But Reality Hits Hard
Although the incident was first posted about a month ago, the video continues to circulate widely. The combination of real danger and cinematic resemblance has kept it alive in online discussions.
Yes, the pose may have looked like a scene straight out of a Stephen Chow comedy. But unlike the movies, there are no stunt doubles in real life.
And in real life, gravity always wins.
