Clouded Leopard Spotted Chilling on Roof in Gombak

Clouded Leopard Spotted Casually Resting on Roof in Gombak
Residents of Taman Sri Gombak Height were left stunned after spotting an unexpected late-night guest — a clouded leopard casually lounging on the roof of a shed.
The incident took place around 1AM on September 8 when the wild animal wandered into the residential property and climbed onto the shed located near the perimeter wall.
Civil Defence Responds to Emergency Call
According to the Kuala Lumpur Civil Defence Force (APM), they received a call reporting the unusual sighting and immediately dispatched a response team to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found the adult clouded leopard — also referred to as a “tree cat” — resting quietly on the shed roof.
“It took our team nearly 20 minutes to safely capture the animal using a net,” the APM said in an official statement.
The leopard was then handed over to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) for appropriate handling and relocation.
Clouded Leopards: Protected and Elusive
As reported by Harian Metro, clouded leopards are known for their tree-dwelling behavior. They typically hunt among forest canopies and rest on tree branches during daylight hours, making sightings in urban settings like Gombak extremely rare.
These elusive creatures are fully protected under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 (Act 716) — meaning it is illegal to catch, harm, or keep them as pets.
