Malaysian OKU Student Bullied at GiatMARA Melaka, Motorcycle Locked in Cage
A disabled student (OKU) studying at GiatMARA Durian Tunggal, Melaka, has become the subject of viral outrage after a TikTok video revealed a series of bullying incidents at the training centre.
The case came to light through TikTok user @masdo21, who was seen at a badminton court with the victim, recounting the bullying the student had endured. In the video, Masdo said that one of the incidents involved other students lifting the OKU student’s motorcycle and locking it inside a cage while he was studying.
“This shocked me. He was even pelted with a bottle while sleeping. And now this? Locking his bike in a cage? That’s just cruel,” said Masdo, visibly upset.
He described the act as cowardly and inhumane, especially since it targeted a person with disabilities. The video, which showed footage of the cage incident, quickly gained traction online and sparked demands for accountability.
Masdo urged GiatMARA to take swift and serious action. “If no one does anything, I’ll go there myself. I won’t let this slide,” he said. “Stop the bullying cycle. Someone needs to speak up.”
In response, Kosmo reported that the incident actually occurred back in February and that action had already been taken by the authorities. According to Datuk Rahmad Mariman, Chairman of the State Committee on Education, Higher Education, and Religious Affairs, MARA had summoned all students involved and required them to apologise to the victim.
He stated that the bullied student did not sustain physical injuries and has since resumed his training as normal.
GiatMARA is a government-run technical training programme under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), focused on equipping Malaysians with vocational skills, especially in rural areas.
The video and its aftermath have once again raised the issue of bullying in educational institutions — especially when it involves vulnerable students like those with disabilities.
