Two fashion designers working for renowned cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Vida became victims of a brutal attack by a photographer in an incident at a hotel in Petaling Jaya. The attack was allegedly triggered by a debt dispute, leaving one victim with severe facial injuries after being struck with a camera.
According to police reports, the suspect was arrested along with the camera used as a weapon during the assault. The suspect is currently being remanded for five days for further investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing injury using a weapon. He is expected to be charged this Friday.
Razmi, one of the attacked designers, revealed that the issue stemmed from a car sale transaction that occurred before the pandemic. He claimed the photographer returned the car in a damaged condition after a few weeks of use and demanded a refund. Razmi agreed to repay the amount in installments due to financial constraints during the pandemic but never expected the situation to escalate into violence.
“I’ve been paying him in installments every month. Just three weeks ago, I made another payment and promised to settle everything this month,” Razmi explained.
He further alleged that the photographer often resorted to threats and public humiliation, even though the debt was being repaid as agreed.
On the day of the incident, Razman, Razmi’s colleague, was the first to be attacked before Razmi himself was struck. “If Razman had suffered a heart attack from the blows and died, who would take responsibility?” Razmi said in frustration.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of resolving conflicts amicably without resorting to violence, especially in matters involving debt.
