Civil Servant Arrested After Recording Woman Without Consent
A 41-year-old civil servant was arrested after he was found secretly recording a woman at Pekan Sehari Temerloh, Pahang. The incident, which happened on 9 November, went viral after footage of the suspect’s arrest spread across social media.
Victim Noticed Suspicious Behaviour
Temerloh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron, said the 33-year-old victim noticed the suspect acting suspiciously and sought help from nearby visitors to stop him. Police officers arrived shortly after, detained the suspect and seized his mobile phone.
Police Found Hidden Videos and Obscene Material
Initial inspection of the device revealed several hidden videos of the victim that were recorded without consent, along with other obscene materials believed to belong to the suspect. Police are currently performing a full forensic analysis of the device to complete the investigation.
Suspect Detained for 24 Hours, Case Referred to Prosecutors
The suspect was held for 24 hours before being released after the preliminary investigation. The case has since been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.
Investigated Under Section 509A of the Penal Code
The case is being investigated under Section 509A of the Penal Code, involving acts that insult a person’s modesty through recording or invasion of privacy without permission.
